Mission Statement

Emboldening Women to Be Christ-Centered, Discerning and Wise
Dry Plants

The general purpose of Legacy Minded is to reflect Christ by abiding deeply in relationship with Him, to preach the gospel, and to love others. In our mission statement, that is “Christ-Centered”.

The specific focus of Legacy Minded Women, which the Lord has come to reveal to us through prayer and a consideration of our (the team's) gifts, experiences and interests, is reflected in the second and third parts of our mission statement: to be discerning and to be wise.

We know that wisdom and discernment in the Christian life is impossible without abiding in Christ. So we hold to Colossians 2:6, which states “just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness,” and daily remind ourselves that we have received Christ Jesus as Lord “by grace…through faith—and this is not from [ourselves], it is the gift of God—” (Ephesians 2:8).  We never move beyond the simplicity of the gospel; we only grow deeper into it. As we seek wisdom and practice discernment, this is paramount to remember, “so that no one can boast.” (v.9)

Three verses are the pillars for the specific call of this ministry as we seek Christ.

Romans 12:2

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Luke 2:19

“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

Jeremiah 29:4-10

This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.  Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Yes, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have. They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them,” declares the Lord.
